THE ULTIMATE CUSTOM SOLUTION, NO COMPROMISE.
For a dedicated race car, SCX Pro wires straight from the back of the panel into your ECU, your CAN network and the rest of the car's electronics.

Zestek Racing SCX-Pro Button Control Panel (Standalone ECU only)
SCX Pro is a configurable steering wheel control panel for high performance and dedicated motorsport vehicles using a standalone ECU. It brings programmable driver inputs, CAN communication, RPM shift lights, status lighting and magnetic paddle shifters into one driver-focused interface.
This configuration is intended for builds that do not need to retain factory steering wheel functions.
Key Features
- Programmable steering wheel buttons and rotary controls
- RGB illuminated buttons with configurable colours and status lighting
- Adjust lighting brightness and switch button illumination on or off directly from the control panel, without connecting to Workstation
- Configurable RPM shift lights and visual indicators
- Haltech CAN keypad emulation for compatible Haltech ECU setups
- Fully configurable Open CAN data streams for compatible Emtron, MoTeC, Link, FuelTech and other standalone ECUs
- Adjustable magnetic paddle shifters and dry-compressed carbon-fibre faceplate

Next Generation Hardware
A metal rear housing gives SCX Pro a more rigid construction. Its revised magnetic paddle shifters offer a wider range of adjustment and a more positive shift feel. A dry-compressed carbon-fibre faceplate completes the motorsport-focused design.
Configurable CAN Integration
Assign steering wheel inputs to custom CAN channels and configure outgoing data streams in Zestek Workstation. Define the CAN message ID and data fields to match the receiving device. An integrated CAN-bus analyser supports setup and troubleshooting.
Standalone ECU Integration
For a dedicated race car, the included SCX Pro CAN signal PCB and 10-pin connector provide a direct connection path to compatible ECU and CAN electronics. Zestek’s Gen 2 pogo-pin quick release carries the electrical connection across the removable wheel interface, allowing a cord-free installation.
The rear quick-release interface provides the following connections:
- 12 V power and ground
- CAN High and CAN Low
- Two 0–5 V analogue outputs
- Four low-side auxiliary outputs
- These connections allow the controls to be integrated into the vehicle’s ECU and electrical system. CAN mapping, connector pinout and output load ratings should be confirmed for the build.
Motorsport Connection Options
For builds that require a separate cable connection, a DR-25-sheathed motorsport curly cord with a matching connector is available separately. The pogo-pin quick release provides a clean alternative when a cord-free steering wheel is preferred.

Before you choose
Is this the right SCX Pro for your car?
This listing is the pure motorsport build. If your car still needs its factory steering wheel functions, you want the other one. Check the row that describes your car before you order, and if you are not certain, message us first.
A dedicated race car with no factory steering wheel functions left to retain. This listing.
A road or track car still running its OEM ECU, where you want an aftermarket wheel without losing the factory controls.
A car that has to keep its factory steering wheel functions while also talking to a standalone ECU, display or CAN network.
Standalone ECU Only
Factory Steering Wheel Functions
Factory Functions + Standalone ECU
Wired directly from the rear of SCX Pro into the car's race electronics. No factory clock spring involved.
One path. A vehicle-specific PCB and harness carry factory signals through the original clock spring.
Two paths at once. Factory signals through the PCB and clock spring; motorsport signals through the curly cord.
Required for the motorsport connection. Sold separately.
Not required
Not required but often optioned.
Rear PCB
What comes off the back of the panel
Without the factory harness in the way, the rear PCB is the whole interface. For engineers, tuners and race teams that means far more freedom in how the car's electronic architecture gets designed.
12V
Switched supply into the panel.
CAN high and CAN low
Straight onto the car's CAN network, alongside the ECU, dash and loggers.
2 × 0–5V outputs
Drive analog inputs on your ECU or logger directly from the wheel.
4 × AUX low-side outputs
Switch relays, solenoids and auxiliary circuits from a button on the wheel.
This is the part that changes how the car is designed: a steering wheel button stops being a simple on or off switch and becomes part of the vehicle's control strategy.

Motorsport curly cord
DR-25 Raychem and an aerospace-grade connector carry it all between the panel and the car.
Hardware
What makes it a Pro

Full dry-compressed carbon fibre
Where SCX and DRX use a carbon composite, the Pro steps up to full dry-compressed carbon, with a metal rear housing.

Magnetic paddle shifters 2.0
Wider adjustment range, more positive shift.

RGB buttons and status lighting
Brightness adjusts from the panel itself. No laptop needed.

Programmable RPM shift lights
Your shift points, your colours, your sequencing.

Pogo-pin quick release
7075 forged aluminium with an integrated adaptor.

Multi-stage tactile buttons
2.25mm of travel, settled on after dozens of prototypes.

VeloLink
Up to six wireless modules, auto-paired, no manual setup. VeloSwitch adds eight relay channels for auxiliary functions.
Zestek Workstation
Configured around the car you built
Button and rotary assignments, RGB colours, RPM shift lights, status indicators and lighting behaviour, with an integrated CAN-bus analyser for setup and troubleshooting. Windows or macOS, over USB-C.
Function test before the car moves
Workstation opens on the hub itself. Run a function test across every button, rotary and paddle and confirm the panel before it goes anywhere near the loom.
Configurations export and import, so a setup you have dialled in can move to another car or go straight to your tuner.
Brightness driven by the car
Drive hub brightness from a CAN stream or a button. Set the stream ID, start bit, width, byte order, multiplier and divisor to match what your ECU already broadcasts.
Shift lights get their own brightness boost so they stay readable in daylight.
Haltech keypad emulation
In Haltech mode each button maps to an emulated Haltech CAN keypad position. Pick the key position from the grid, set the colour for each state, then assign the function in Haltech ECU software.
Custom Open CAN
For Emtron, MoTeC, Link, FuelTech and other standalone ECUs, assign any button to a CAN channel of your choosing.
Set tap or lock behaviour per button, and control the button light and indicator light independently.
Build the stream, then watch it on the bus
Each button becomes a named channel on an outgoing CAN stream. Build up to four streams, set each ID and stream size, choose the bit rate and transmit speed, and place channels directly on the bit grid.
The integrated analyser then reads the live bus back, so the panel can be confirmed talking to your ECU before the car turns a wheel. Configurations export, so the same setup can be reused or handed to your tuner.

Is this the right listing?
This one is for a car that no longer needs factory steering wheel functions. No clock spring, no vehicle-specific PCB or harness, wired straight into your race electronics.
If your car still runs its OEM ECU and you want to keep supported factory controls, you want the SCX Pro OEM listing instead.
What do I wire it to?
The rear PCB goes into your standalone ECU, CAN network, dash or logger, and whatever auxiliary circuits you want on the wheel.
There is no vehicle-specific harness because there is no factory circuit to join. Your installer terminates it to suit the car.
What I/O do I get?
12V power, CAN high and CAN low, two 0–5V analog outputs and four AUX low-side outputs, all directly from the rear PCB.
That is what lets a button on the wheel switch a relay or drive an analog input rather than just sending a keypress.
Do I need the curly cord?
If the wheel comes off the car, yes. The DR-25 Raychem cord and aerospace-grade connector are what carry power, CAN and I/O between the panel and the car.
It is sold separately. View the curly cord.
Which standalone ECUs work?
For Haltech, Haltech mode maps SCX Pro buttons to emulated Haltech CAN keypad positions, and the functions are assigned in Haltech ECU software.
For Emtron, MoTeC, Link, FuelTech and others, Custom Open CAN lets your installer assign button channels and configure outgoing CAN data streams. Message IDs and data fields have to be matched to the receiving device.
What do you need from me?
Your standalone ECU, display and CAN setup, and what you want the buttons and outputs doing, so the required connection parts can be specified correctly.
How is the Pro different from the SCX?
The Pro moves from the carbon composite used on SCX and DRX to full dry-compressed carbon fibre, with a metal rear housing. The magnetic paddle shifters are revised with a wider adjustment range and a more positive shift.
It also adds RGB button and status lighting with on-panel brightness control, plus the rear PCB I/O and CAN capability that make a pure motorsport install possible at all. SCX requires the car to still be running its OEM ECU.
Will it fit my aftermarket wheel?
Most aftermarket wheels will suit SCX Pro. If you are unsure, message us and we will confirm your wheel choice before you order.
Can I add more switching?
Beyond the four AUX outputs on the rear PCB, VeloSwitch adds eight wireless relay channels, and VeloLink supports up to six wireless expansion modules with auto-pairing.
Can I install it myself?
This configuration is a wiring job into a race loom, so we strongly recommend a professional installer or your existing auto electrician. Zestek is not liable for damage that occurs during installation.
Can you help me set it up?
Yes. Email info@zestek.net to book a remote Express setup session and we will walk you through configuration.
